Guide: configure your DNS system to allow emails to be sent with your domain name via CentrixOne

Introduction #

By default, our CRM allows you to send emails via the domain name “@crm-send.com” without configuring any specific authorization beforehand. Once our team has validated your identity, this domain name is automatically activated in your CentrixOne account, thereby unlocking the email function.

If you prefer to use your personalized domain name instead, you must first modify and/or add values called “Records” in your Domain Name System’s (DNS) management console. This step enables us to authenticate our servers in your domain name and to increase the delivery rate of your emails sent via the CentrixOne CRM.

If you are wondering about the role of a DNS here is a short explanation: In an email address, the portion after the “@” identifies the recipient’s domain name. This domain name is easy for a human being to remember, but cannot be read as such by a computer system. Your DNS will therefore convert your domain name into a series of numbers, which the various communication systems can then read.

To properly configure your DNS system for CentrixOne, please follow steps 1-6 explained at the bottom of this page. Feel free to ask your host provider or your IT technician for help configuring everything.

Here are some related guides to help you with the setup, depending on your host provider:

If your host provider is not listed above, please log onto their website and review their documentation or contact their helpdesk if needed.

Step 1/6: TXT spf1 mx configuration #

If you already have a TXT type record starting with v=spf1:

  • Update your SPF by adding include:centrixmail.com just before the “-all”
    • Example: v=spf1 mx include:spf.protection.outlook.com include:centrixmail.com -all

If you don’t have this record:

  • Refer to your provider’s guide to create an SPF record by copying and pasting the code below, then replace yourdomain.com with your personalized domain
TXT
yourdomain.com
v=spf1 mx include:centrixmail.com ~all

Step 2/6: CNAME s1. configuration #

Create a CNAME record named s1._domainkey.yourdomain.com pointing to s1.domainkey.centrixmail.com

If your CNAME record looks like this “s1._domainkey.yourdomain.com.yourdomain.com” (duplicate your domain), just indicate “s1._domainkey” in your record.

Step 3/6: CNAME s2. configuration #

Create a CNAME record named s2._domainkey.yourdomain.com pointing to s2.domainkey.centrixmail.com

If your CNAME record looks like this “s2._domainkey.yourdomain.com.yourdomain.com” (duplicate your domain), just indicate “s2._domainkey” in your record.

Step 4/6: CNAME e1. configuration #

Create a CNAME record named e1.yourdomain.com pointing to e1.centrixmail.com

If your CNAME record looks like this “e1.yourdomain.com.yourdomain.com” (duplicate your domain), just indicate “e1.” in your record.

CNAME e1 is the name of our sending email server. This enables you to simulate that our server belongs to your domain name.

Step 5/6: TXT _dmarc configuration #

If you already have this record, you don’t need to create a new one. Otherwise, please create a TXT record named _dmarc with the value v=DMARC1; p=none;

The “None” value of this configuration allows you to create the record while having no impact on your current email delivery.

For more information on DMARC technology, please visit: dmarc.org

Step 6/6: CentrixOne authentification #

Once steps 1 to 5 are completed, please email support@centrix.one to notify us that the changes have been made in your DNS system and that your personalized domain name is ready to be authenticated on our servers.

Please note that your DNS changes may take up to 48 hours to take effect.
