As far as Canadian law is concerned, it stipulates that to send a marketing communication to someone, whether it&#8217;s an email, a private message on social media, or a text message (SMS), you must first obtain their consent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There are 2 types of consent (in CentrixOne CRM, you can manage them via CASL permissions):<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Express\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>This means that the person authorizes you (verbally or in writing) to send them this type of communication until they decide to withdraw their consent.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Implied\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>This means that you have a business relationship with the person (purchase, rental, donation, request for information, member or volunteer of your organization, etc.), which gives you the right to send them this type of communication for a period of 6 months to 2 years, depending on the situation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>When sending a promotional email, you must include the following information:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A clearly visible, functional and easy-to-use unsubscribe link<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Name of your company, association or organization<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Name of the person sending the email (the sender)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Street address<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Telephone number<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ised-isde.canada.ca\/site\/canada-anti-spam-legislation\/en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Click here<\/span><\/a> for more information on the Canada&#8217;s anti-spam legislation.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group faq-frame faq\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container is-layout-flow wp-block-group-is-layout-flow\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-medium-font-size\" id=\"h-how-do-i-add-a-casl-permission\"><strong>How do I add a CASL permission?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Click on the <strong>Contacts<\/strong> module<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click on the appropriate contact to access their card<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In the <strong>Activity<\/strong> section, click on <strong>CASL permissions<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click on the <strong>+ add permission<\/strong> button<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Enter the information (make sure it&#8217;s correct, as you can&#8217;t modify or delete this type of permission once it&#8217;s been added, to maintain authenticity in the permission history)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click on <strong>Add<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group faq-frame faq\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container is-layout-flow wp-block-group-is-layout-flow\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-medium-font-size\" id=\"h-how-do-i-target-promotional-emails-to-contacts-with-a-valid-casl-permission\"><strong>How do I target promotional emails to contacts with a valid CASL permission?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Click on the <strong>Emails<\/strong> module<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Create your email or click on your draft<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In the <strong>Choose criteria<\/strong> step, check the <strong>CASL<\/strong> box to filter the list by this criterion<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Check either <strong>Select all contacts on this page<\/strong> or <strong>Select all contacts from all pages<\/strong> as required<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/div><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Introduction When you send a communication for commercial purposes, you must ensure that you comply with the anti-spam law of the country where the recipient is located.
